Wouldn’t it be great if you could eat filling satisfying meals and still lose weight? Well it is entirely possible if we adjust our diets a little. Starvation dieting does little other than lose us water weight in the short term and can be dangerous in the longer term. The best weight loss food is that which satisfies us, provides our required nutrition and keeps us from the temptation of snacking on junk food. Ideally we want something filling so as to suppress our appetite.

So what are the satisfying foods that allow us to do fill up and avoid those evil snacks? Protein rich foods such as lean meat and fish, nuts and beans tend to be very satisfying so replacing some of our carbohydrate and fat intake with protein rich food makes a lot of sense. We can lose weight fairly quickly and we can keep it off too.

We all know that to lose weight we must limit our overall calorie intake to less than our activities require. That way our bodies will start to burn the stored energy reserves of fat in our bodies. The greater the difference between our calorie intake and our energy output the greater the weight loss we achieve. There is a caveat, we do not want to shock our bodies into thinking we are starving or we risk lowering our metabolism and making it harder to lose weight.

Cereals and grains are good high fibre filling foods and also good for our digestion.

Fruit is a far better choice than processed snacks anytime. An apple probably takes more energy to digest than it adds to our calories but can be a handy snack if we need one between meals.

And let us not forget vegetables, we can think of the strongly colored ones like broccoli and carrot as being healthier than the lesser colored ones like say potato. This keeps it simple and works well as a general guide.

 Well if you had a healthy diet and you exercised regularly you probably wouldn't have the bottle in your hand in the first place. People today are trained from an early age to expect everything quick and easy. Well weight loss is not quick and easy. You did not get fat overnight and you are not going to get thin overnight and that is the cold hard truth.

 Now that the reality check is over, don't worry. You don't need a magic pill, a special piece of exercise equipment or the best weight loss supplement on the market. The only weight loss supplement you need is will power and the desire to do what it takes to get there.

I can't stand the sales pitches they do for products during the show or how they drag it out into a 2 hour show with only 30 minutes of content but I love the show because of what it does. The show motivates people to lose weight by working out, eating right, and putting forth maximum effort. A staple in every show is some overweight person at the gym sweating profusely trying to lose another pound for the next weigh in. That is how it is done. Work hard, stick with it, drop the weight. One quick disclaimer though. Losing 5-15 pounds a week is not healthy and not realistic for most people. The contestants on this show are extremely overweight, have terrible diets, don't work out and make an immediate jump into 4-6 hours of training a day and a heavily restricted diet. If they didn't have $250,000 hanging over their heads, millions of people watching them on TV, and a personal trainer riding them 24/7 they would fail with this dramatic of a change.

 So be smart. Start slow, get you some cardio every day, lift weights, watch what you eat and avoid the weight loss supplements and weight loss products that try and convince you that it is easy.

So many people these days are in search of the best weight loss plan to lose weight quick and easy.  Unfortunately, they will be sorely disappointed as there is no such thing as the best weight loss plan for quick and easy weight loss.  Because each individual is different, no one plan will be the best fit for everyone.  Successful weight loss can only be achieved when the weight loss plan is tailored to the individual, fits into their lifestyle, and is something they will be able to live with for the rest of their lives.  The following are a few factors that need to be considered when looking for your own best weight loss plan.

Be realistic.  If you’ve never weighed 100 pounds in your entire adult life, then don’t expect that you will be able to comfortably lose weight down to that weight.  Aim to lose 10% of your current weight and adjust accordingly after each increment of 10% that you lose.  A very rough estimate to use when finding your goal weight would be 100 pounds for the first five feet in height.  Add 5 pounds for every inch over five feet.  Therefore, if you are five feet 2 inches, a rough goal weight would be 110 pounds.  Talk with your doctor regarding what would be a realistic weight goal as there may be other factors that need to be considered (such as age and bone density) that should be factored into your goal weight.

Take into account your likes and dislikes.  If you follow a weight loss plan that says you need to eat grapefruit every morning and you hate grapefruit, you will not want to stay on the plan for very long.  When choosing a weight loss plan to follow, take into consideration the kinds of food that are on the plan, and whether you enjoy eating them.  You won’t succeed on a weight loss plan unless you feel happy with the foods you are eating and don’t feel like you’re being punished for deciding to lose weight.

Consider this a lifestyle change and not a short-term goal.  Many people approach losing weight as a short-term goal.  They think that once they lose the 10 or 20 pounds that they can go off the “diet” and back to what they consider “regular” eating.  The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.  This can be said about successful weight loss.  Don’t expect to continue eating the way you’ve been eating and expect to lose weight.  In order to successfully lose weight, something needs to change and that change needs to be maintained for the rest of your life in order to maintain the weight loss.  Successfully losing weight and maintaining the weight loss is a life-long commitment.
